Programme Overview
Women bring distinctive strengths to leadership - yet they also navigate a set of structural and cultural barriers their male peers rarely encounter. This programme is designed to help women lead authentically and powerfully: building confidence and executive presence, navigating bias and the double bind, growing strategic networks and sponsorship, negotiating effectively, and leading other women forward. It blends honest acknowledgment of real barriers with practical, evidence-based strategies to overcome them.
Course Content
Module 1: Authentic Leadership Identity (2 Hours)
- Debunking the masculine-default model and defining your authentic leadership signature
- Transformational and inclusive leadership research where women routinely excel
- Countering impostor syndrome, the confidence gap, and self-minimisation habits
Module 2: Executive Presence & Communication (2 Hours)
- Projecting confidence through gravitas, authoritative posture, voice, and presence
- Eliminating undermining speech patterns: excessive apologising, hedging, and upspeak
- Techniques for speaking concisely, holding the floor, and handling interruptions gracefully
Module 3: Navigating Bias & the Double Bind (2 Hours)
- The competent-or-likeability double bind, affinity bias, and invisible glue work traps
- Naming dynamics safely using calibrated assertiveness and warmth plus authority
- Managing emotional labour and building sustainable resilience patterns
Module 4: Networks, Sponsorship & Influence (2 Hours)
- Building out your operational, developmental, and strategic networking nodes
- The critical difference between mentors (advise) and sponsors (advocate)
- Influencing without positional authority and managing up successfully
Module 5: Negotiation & Self-Advocacy (2 Hours)
- Reframing negotiations from confrontation to advocacy and collaborative problem-solving
- Building the business case for promotions, stretch roles, and compensation
- Practical self-advocacy role-play scenarios with peer and facilitator coaching
Module 6: Leading Others & Sustaining Success (2 Hours)
- Avoiding the queen bee trap and actively lifting other women as you rise
- Setting personal boundaries, managing the mental load, and building sustainable ambition
- Creating your personal leadership development roadmap and 30-60-90 day plans
